Osun was the first female deity that came into the earth,
She liberated the earth by making everything successful,
Nothing was made successful without her and they need to seek her for their ritual and sacrifice to be
acceptable .
In our present day we seek her consent through consultation to let our rituals and sacrifices acceptable.
WHY OSUN HAVE DIFFERENT COLORS
Osun color globally is yellow in term of her beads, but in OSUN Osogbo where is being worshipped and recognize globally her color are these color and their meanings
1-Green because of her fertility, Osun is goddess of fertility because she gives children and make us fertile.
2-The yellow, Amber,Gold symbolize the same thing and fall into the same category and they are called’ OYINDE’ .
3-Blue color-The blue symbolized indigo and Osun is an indigo dyer.
In the history of OSOGBO .The founder or ancestral fathers of Osogbo
When they cut down trees it fell on Osun indigo pot and broke it and Osun cries out that OSO INU IGBO GBOGBO IKOKO ARO MI LE TI FO TAN which mean SORCERER OF THE FOREST YOU HAVE BROKEN ALL THE POT OF MY DYES that is how ancestral fathers of Osogbo nows that Osun is an indigo dyer and she loves indigo. Osogbo is called ILU ARO.
4-Coral red-Osun loves coral red and the color of her comb is coral red, that is why they called her OLOYA IYUN the one with CORAL RED comb.
5-White-It symbolized purity because she is very pure
6- Camwood red -This color is sacred to her that is why the color is red the painting of her house.
7-Orange and Pink-These color are used because of her brightness and charming and the love she have for people and good things.
WHAT IS ORISHA OSUN
Orisha Osun is vey vital among the IRUNMOLES.
Irunmole is a collective name for all the Orisha .Osun play a vital roles among
the first set of Orisha that descended to this earth and they are SEVENTEEN in number and it was only Osun who is in charge of fertility and water of life ,in charge of love and she is very charming orisha lovers of children and very acommodating .Osun deity is very important to us as water is important to our body.Osun loves nature a lot despite being a river deity .
THINGS TO APPEAL OSUN
Osun loves vegetables a lot but her favorites among the vegetables is EFO YANRIN though it can grows anywhere but at times very scarce but that is her favourite.
She also love yam porridge ASARO .
In OSOGBO during the masquerade festival that normally start in the month of june on the seventh day that is when a masquerade called ALASORE will bring new yam to town through the market Osogbo and Osun devotee won’t be able to eat yam until August when the overnight ceremony for the new yam is done,
If any sacrifice of porridge want to be offer to osun before new yam festival ceremony yam fro the previous year will be used.
TABOOS OF OSUN
There are consequence for every violation to the Orisha, we must do what she want for things to be going on perfectly, on the day of her festival during the procession to the river we have her fan and her cutlass with us, the negative and the positive
As she is loving and charming we must not violate her.
Osun does not eat snail but there is a particular snail called ESAN OSUN is used a a ritual ,also fish water fish, there is a sorghum family called guinea corn is also a taboo is also, Odu vegetables is green but when it is cooked
It turns black and we have another vegetable called soko when is cooked it also turns black but not as black as Odu that one is not a taboo
THE SOURCE OF OSUN
From the beginning the first set of Orisha that descended Osun was the only
Female among them and that is why she means the source, The first set of Orisha were seventeen after that the Orisha began to be descending in sixteen
And sixteen.

Osun is a flowing river not a lake, its flows in in curves and bend ,it doesn’t flow straight
